About Dinokeng

Dinokeng is rich in the diverse history, culture and fauna and flora of Africa. Best of all, it's just a stone's throw away to the north-east of Jo'burg and Tshwane, a gem of a tourist destination waiting for you.

The hospitality of the land is matched by the warmth of its people.

The residents are passionate about Dinokeng's many treasures. Whether you are an outdoor adventurer, want to learn more about the culture and history of an area, or prefer a sedate getaway where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, you will find what you seek in Dinokeng.

The name Dinokeng - a place of rivers - is derived from the languages of the Batswana and Bapedi who traditionally made this region their home.

Dinokeng lies in the catchment area of the Olifants and Limpopo Rivers - which means, according to some African cultures, that this is a sacred place with healing powers.

The Dinokeng destination, covering over 200 000 hectares offers you a variety of experiences, making a trip there interesting and worthwhile.

It includes the Roodeplaat and Rust de Winter dam areas, as well as the towns of Cullinan, Rayton, Hammanskraal, Moloto and Refilwe.

There are over 275 tourist attractions across Dinokeng, each with its own character and offerings.

Facilities

Bask in the sun around the crystal clear pool or relax in the shade of the Bush veld trees. Day to day pressures of modern society are easily forgotten in this setting of natural beauty and tranquillity.

Short walks on marked trails enable the visitors to experience the lush surroundings and observe the wildlife and the beauty of the Bush veld. Just over 100 bird species have been identified in the area with numerous kinds of trees and flowers in the area to relax under.

A bonfire and warm atmosphere in the bar, keeps us warm and cosy on winter’s nights while you watch the Pool Champions do battle on the table, watch Big Screen Sport or chat with old and new friends.

Four fireplaces in the closed in Boma provides a lovely atmosphere to sit and chat on quiet evenings or on the odd occasions spontaneous dance parties have been known to erupt in this well-kept area.

SunEden Restaurant is where you can enjoy scrumptious breakfasts and mouth-watering lunches while relaxing next to the pond.

Browse around “The Kraaines” convenience shop for interesting goodies and those things we always forget. Braai packs are also available at “The Kraaines” if you forgot to bring your meat for the Braai around the Pool. This convenience store is always well stocked.

The entertainment at SunEden is superb and such that you and any member of your family will find it comfortable, fun and much more relaxing than what most people can imagine. Karaoke evenings are arranged, as well as a Themed Party evening once a month, or just sitting around a fire talking to fellow Naturists as if you have known them all your life.
